This specimen was lot 24186 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "George V Halfcrown 1925, MS63 NGC, small abrasions including a long light scuff on the king's temple, strike quite sharp for issue, soft satiny luster, light golden hued silvery white toning, an especially nice example of this very rare date from the 2nd Coinage period of debased (.500 fine) silver, almost never found in Mint State." The half crown (2½ shillings) was struck in sterling silver until 1920, when it was debased to .500 fine. This type was issued 1922-26.
