The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in Berlin for [[Germany]]. Germany began minting euros in 2002. Production for circulation ceased in 2005 tho they are minted every year for collector sets. The Berlin Wall formerly passed through the Brandenberg Gate, which also appears on the German twenty cent. To this writer's knowledge, Germany is the only country in Europe still operating branch mints; A - Berlin; D - Munich; F - Stuttgart; G - Karlsruhe and J - Hamburg.

''Recorded mintage:'' 367,990,000 plus 75,000 proofs.

''Specification:'' 7.5 g., Bi-Metallic Copper-Nickel center in Brass ring, 23.25 mm diameter. Obv: German eagle; Rev: Value at left, expanded relief map of European Union at right by Luc Luycx; Edge: Reeded and plain sections.
