This specimen was lot 7114 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $408. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Germany|GERMANY]]. Weimar Republic. 5 Mark, 1931-D. Munich Mint. PCGS MS-65. A pleasing, sharply struck Gem with frosty luster and no toning. From the Little Acorn Collection." This type, issued 1927-33, was struck in large numbers in Berlin ("A"), Munich ("D", shown here), Muldenhutten ("E"), Stuttgart ("F"), Karlsrule ("G") and Hamburg ("J"). It is, however, expensive; perhaps they were melted during World War Two. We have included it in our category of thalers based on its size, even tho it is only .500 fine.

''Recorded mintage:'' 3,254,000, a slightly better date.

''Specification:'' 25 g, .500 fine silver, .401 troy oz ASW, 37 mm diameter.
