''Aufgrund der Rückseiten-Umschrift stellte Demole diese Münze in die Zeit um 1541. Dies kann unterdessen noch präzisiert werden, und zwar aus zwei Gründen: Als einziger datierter Sol ist der Jahrgang 1540 mit LVCEN (und nicht LUCEM) geschrieben. Ein Münzzeichen fehlt gänzlich, während alle Varianten mit LVCEM das Münzzeichen G aufweisen. Es muss sich deshalb um einen fremden Stempelschneider gehandelt haben, welcher nur kurz für Genf arbeitete. - Der datierte Sol von 1540 zeigt nach der Jahreszahl ein Münzzeichen in Form eines Kreuzchens mit Einschnitten in den Kreuzenden, genauso, wie das Kreuzchen dieses Sols o. J. am Ende der Rückseitenumschrift. Dieses auffällige Kreuzchen trifft man unseres Wissens später nie mehr an. Übrigens gibt es vom Sol o. J. mit LVCEN noch eine geringfügige Variante von einem zweiten Stempelpaar, aber ebenfalls mit dem besonderen Kreuzchen.'' This can now be made more precise for two reasons: The 1540 date is the only dated sol to be written with LVCEN (and not LUCEM). A mint mark is completely missing, while all variants with LVCEM have the mint mark G. It must therefore have been made by a foreign die cutter who only worked for Geneva for a short time. Second, the dated 1540 sol shows a mint mark after the year in the form of a small cross with cuts in the ends of the cross, just like the small cross of this undated sol at the end of the inscription on the reverse. To our knowledge, this conspicuous cross is never found again later. Incidentally, there is a slight variant of the undated sol with LVCEN from a second pair of dies, but also with the special small cross.)"</blockquote>
