This specimen was lot 809 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,561 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''FREIBURG, STADT, Guldentaler (60 Kreuzer) 1567, mit Titel Ferdinands I. R Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Gerhard Hirsch XXI, München 1959, Nr. 625.'' ([[Germany]], city of Freiburg, gulden thaler of sixty kreuzer of 1567, struck in the name of Ferdinand I. Scarce, very fine.)"</blockquote> Freiburg, north of Basel and east of the Rhine, was the chief town of the [[Austria]]n province of Breisgau. In 1803, Napoleon handed it over to his ally, the grand duke of [[German States, Baden-Durlach|Baden]], whose possession it remained until the collapse of the Wilhelmine empire in 1918. This issue of 1563-73, like most from this locality, is rare.
