This specimen was lot 73061 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[France|FRANCE]]. Ecu, 1768/7-R. Orleans Mint. Louis XV. NGC EF-45. Demonstrating a clear overdate and charming details, this appealing and charming specimen gives much appeal to the eyes. With deep cabinet toning throughout and impressive details, we expect much competition for this wonderful example." This coin is an ''écu aux branches d'olivier'' from the Orleans mint. A few Orleans mint issues are common (as is this one) but most are scarce. The type was struck 1726-40 during the reign of Louis XV. This coin superseded the ''écu aux branches d’olivier'' in 1740.
