This specimen was lot 17737 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $5,175. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "Glendale, CA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 625 The First NB Ch. # (P)7987, Large notes only from this bank, which liquidated in 1922. Of the handful of known examples, only two have ever been offered at public sale, a number 1 Red Seal in the 1990 Krakover sale, and this note, which was obtained by Lowell at the Colver auction in 1999. Lowell paid $5775 for this piece, which, considering its rarity and desirability, will likely appear to be a bargain once the hammer falls tonight. Pretty Very Fine, with two color pen signatures of R.F. Kitterman and C.C. Cooper."
