This specimen was part of lot 23748 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $9,400. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "George V Proof Set 1934, KM1-5, PR66 NGC on the Halfpenny, Sixpence and Shilling and PR67 NGC on the Penny and the Florin. While one may occasionally see the Proof oddment for 1934, this full set came from the Melbourne Mint duplicates. From The Ted Reams Collection." Coinage was initiated for the [[Fiji Islands]] in 1934, the year after [[New Zealand]]. Like British coinage of the thirties, the silver issues were only .500 fine. Altho mintages were small, enough were saved that most dates are common today. The proofs, however, are rare.
