This specimen was lot 31036 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Egypt]]: Arab Republic gold "National Bank of Egypt" 5 Pounds AH 1393 (1973) MS62 NGC. The deep goldenrod hues over a semi-Prooflike surface create a charming eye-appeal to this commemorative issue, marking the 75th anniversary of the National Bank of Egypt. From the Paramount Collection." While the National Bank was issuing this self-congratulatory NCLT, Sadat launched a surprise attack on Israel which evolved into the Yom Kippur War. While Israel managed to regroup and force the Egyptian army back to the line of the Sinai Canal, the Egyptians gave a good account of themselves and were not crushed. Both sides then decided further conflicts were pointless, and in 1980, Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty. This denomination was used for numerous gold commemoratives until 1982. This design also appeared on a copper-nickel five piastres ([[Egypt 1973 5 piastres|KM 437]]).
