This specimen was lot 1281 in Jean Elsen sale 123 (Brussels, December 2014), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,235 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''NEDERLAND, DE DRIE RIJKSSTEDEN, (Deventer, Kampen en Zwolle), AR Karolusdaalder, z.j. (1553 ?), Deventer. Droit: MO' NO' TRIVM CIVITATVM IMPERIALVM Geharnast bb. van Keizer Karel radié met kroon, rijksappel en zwaard tot aan de rand. Revers: DAVENTRIE CAMPENSIS ZWOLLENSIS De verbonden drie stedenwapens. Zeldzaam. Lichte montagesporen aan de rand (?) en krasjes op vz. Zeer Fraai.'' (Netherlands, the three imperial cities of Deventer, Kampen and Zwolle, silver Carolus dollar without date (c. 1553), Deventer mint. Obverse: crowned and armored bust of emperor Charles bearing a sword; reverse: the arms of the three cities, chained together.
