The Banco de Tamaulipas operated 1902-15 and most of its issues are scarce except for some released in 1914.

The one peso note was not issued until the Huerta regime permitted banks to issue low denomination notes in 1914. IT was printed locally in Mexico, not in New York like the large denominations. It is the most common note.

The first specimen was sold in a Heritage internet sale (Dallas, May, 2012) for $40. The catalog description noted, "Mexico El Banco de Tamaulipas 5 Pesos (1914). A well preserved attractive Series H remainder produced by the ABNCo. Very Choice Crisp Uncirculated." Frampton, et al., note various issues of this note dated 1902-14. Unissued remainders such as that shown here are very common.

This twenty pesos note with its vignette of a steam locomotive is very popular among collectors. Series A-F and H are all scarce to rare altho series G of 1914 is common.
