This specimen was lot 12500 in Heritage sale 448 (Long Beach, September 2007), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description noted, "Pick S236a Plate Note--Ecuador Banco de Quito 1 Peso July 9, 1878 Pick S236a. This complete date is currently unlisted in the Standard Catalog but this example is the plate note in the Specialized volume. The note is printed by Charles, Skipper & East, London. Current value is unlisted in any grade so any estimate is but a guess."

This specimen was lot 5288 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $304.75. The catalog description noted, "ECUADOR. Banco Comercial Y Agricola. 1 Sucre, 1.1.1897. P-S125. A nice looking circulated note with nice color and only a pinhole to mention. FINE-VERY FINE."

This note was lot 6529 in Ponterio sale 151 (Baltimore, November 2009), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ECUADOR. Compania de Credito Agricola e Industrial. 2 Pesos, ND (1921). P-S272s. Specimen. A very short lived issuing authority which had only two denominations. This Two Peso note is scarce in issued form and if found, would likely be in a poor state of preservation. Luckily for collectors this ABNC specimen shows the design with perfect detail and striking color. PMG CHOICE UNCIRCULATED 64EPQ."

This specimen was lot 5289 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $718.75. The catalog description noted, "ECUADOR. La Caja Central De Emision Y Amortizacion. 2 Sucres, 6.4.1927. P-S282. This note shows with the overprints one the face and back stating the issuing authority and is typically found in lower grades. This note goes against that trend and is seen in a very pleasing high end circulated grade. EXTREMELY FINE."

This set was lot 32065 in Heritage sale 141412 (Dallas, March 2014), where it sold for $270.25. The catalog description noted, "Ecuador Banco Central 5 Sucres 27.10.1938 Pick 84b. An earlier date is seen o[n] this desirable design from Central America. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 Net, staining."

This set was lot 22441 in Heritage sale 3525 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description noted, "Ecuador Banco Central 1975-80 Specimens. 1975 and 1976 dated Specimens are seen in this lot. All heavily embossed Choice Crisp Uncirculated notes have 3 POCs." Fifty sucres, twenty sucres, ten sucres and five sucres were included. In the early seventies, US$1 = S/25. In December 1983, US$1 = S/54. "POCs" are punch out cancels.

Printed on Tyvek plastic. An extremely popular medium which is always met with great attention from collectors of the odd and curious. This experimental proof shows with exceptional quality and detail with large even margins and fantastic original plastic! PMG Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ."
