This specimen was lot 1852 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $114. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Cuba|CUBA]], Havana mint, proof 10 pesos, 1995, Centennial of the Cuban War of Independence, NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo, "top pop," ex-Busto. Mintage of only 500 coins. Nice Gem proof with frosted design and deep mirror fields, tied with five others for finest known in the NGC census. Pedigreed to the José O. Busto Collection." The first war of independence erupted in the 1870's and was eventually crushed by Spanish authorities after slavery was abolished. The second war broke out in 1895 and led to the Spanish-American War and Yankee intervention. Cuba won her political independence in 1902 but became an economic satellite of the United States.
