This specimen was lot 1178 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Cuba|CUBA]], Havana mint, gold proof 10 pesos, 1989, José Martí, NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (EMO Collection Label), "top pop." KM-211; Fr-24. Superb mirror cameo with the faintest rub on Martí's brow, tied with two others for finest in the NGC census, from a reported mintage of just 15 pieces. Pedigreed to The Emilio M. Ortiz Collection of Cuban Gold Coins." Marti, best known as the author of "Guantanamera", has been adopted as a hero of the Cuban revolution, tho it seems unlikely that he would have much sympathy with the Communists. The bust used here originally appeared on the Cuban gold issues of 1915-16, minted in Philadelphia. This design was also used in 1988 and 1990. Other ten pesos for 1989 included KM 162, KM 163, KM 164, KM 238, [[Cuba 1989 10 pesos KM-239|KM 239]], [[Cuba 1989 10 pesos KM-240|KM 240]], 242.1, [[Cuba 1989 10 pesos KM 249.1|KM 249.1]] and KM 383 plus pieforts.
