This specimen was lot 1433 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 600 (about US$791 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Konventionstaler 1761. Augsburg. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön.'' (bishopric of Constance, convention thaler of 1761, very fine to good very fine.)"</blockquote> Constance is a town on the shores of the lake of the same name. Though it has always been surrounded by Swiss territory, it was never part of the Swiss Confederation. Originally ecclesiastical territory, the town wrested its independence during the Reformation and maintained it until Napoleon handed it to the Grand Duchy of Baden. The SCWC lists this type for 1761 only along with a [[Constance 1761-FH 1/2 thaler|half thaler]] and quarter thaler.
