This specimen was lot 312 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Colombia|COLOMBIA]], Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1689 (G), rare, NGC AU 55 (1715 Fleet Shipwreck Label). Bold full cross with full 16 and most of 8 of date, the last digit off the flan but an exact die-match with ones dated 1689 (slab label just says 1680-89), nearly full shield, just a couple flat areas on sides but rest of coin very sharp and fully Mint State in our opinion, a rare grade for this type. Recovered from Spanish 1715 Fleet, sunk off the east coast of Florida." This type was struck 1667-93, with assayer G reported for 1678-92. All dates are rare.
