This coin, minted in Paris, was issued 1924-26 during the period of French mandate over the territory of [[Cameroon]]. It is accompanied by a similar fifty centimes and two francs. Later, in 1960, Cameroon would attain independence. The obverse and reverse design are similar to what was being issued in many other French colonies in Africa. The first specimen was lot 128 in Wm. Rosenblum sale 44B (Colorado Springs, December 2014), where it sold for $450. The catalog description noted, "Cameroon, French Mandate. 1925 2 Francs. BU. KM values this at $500 in MS63. The 3rd of 3 coins that would make an outstanding addition to a type set." The second specimen was lot 29451 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $940. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "French Mandate aluminum-bronze 2 Francs 1925-(A) MS66 NGC, Paris mint. A truly superb offering with silky, golden-bronze luster and precisely-defined design elements. Nearly pristine in all regards and presently the single-finest certified example by NGC."
