This specimen was by [[Brazil]] as part of second reform of the currency in 1967, the first occurring in 1942 when the réis was dropped for the cruziero. Additional reforms would occur in 1986, 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1994 as military misrule compounded corruption, social inequality, foreign debt and urban violence. The issue of 1969 was thinner and lighter than that of 1967. The final issue was that of 1975. Stainless steel was also used for the [[Brazil 1967 centavo|one]], two, ten and fifty centavos.
