This specimen was lot 72340 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $528. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "BRAZIL. 2000 Reis, 1911. Rio de Janeiro Mint. PCGS MS-65+. Unusually choice for tis type. Enticing ash gray toning with a very strong strike. Republican issue." Shown is a 2000 réis of the United States of [[Brazil]], of a type struck 1906-12. The head of Liberty on this coin also appeared on [[Brazil 1906 500 reis|silver 500]] and [[Brazil 1911 1000 reis|1000 réis]] of the same period. The denomination was abolished in 1942 with the reform of the coinage in that year.
