This type was struck in small numbers 1834-48 in Rio de Janeiro, with 1834, 1835, 1837 and 1846 being the reasonably available dates. The series came accompanied by [[Brazil 1835 200 reis|200 ''réis'']], [[Brazil 1834 400 reis|400 ''réis'']], [[Brazil 1835 800 reis|800 ''réis'']] and [[Brazil 1837 1200 reis|1200 ''réis'']] in silver. This specimen was lot 25169 in Heritage sale 61382 (Dallas, March 2024), where it sold for $192. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Brazil]]: Pedro II 100 Reis 1834 AU53 NGC. First year of type. Beautiful mottled cabinet tone." <br />
