This specimen was lot 31021 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "João V gold 6400 Reis (Peça) 1734-M Choice XF Mount Removed, Vila Rica mint, A similarly well detailed coin, showing less friction evidence than the previous lot but also with evidence of mount removal on the reverse at 3 and 9 o'clock and slightly lightweight as a result at 13.90 grams. The obverse side with the all-important date is similarly well presented and the mount removal was better executed. Another presentable type coin for this key and elusive Brazilian Colonial issue, the 1734 date being also rarer than the 1733/32 one. Still desirable and eminently collectible despite the mentioned impairments. From The Santa Catarina Collection of Brazilian Gold Coins." This type was struck 1731-50 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil tho the early dates (especially the ones from Minas Gerais) are rare.
