This specimen was lot 76 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,557 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''BRANDENBURG, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich Wilhelm, der Große Kurfürst, 1640-1688. Reichstaler 1641, LM, Berlin. R Haare min. nachgraviert, sehr schön-vorzüglich.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Brandenburg|electorate of Brandenburg]], Frederick William, the Great Elector, 1640-88, thaler of 1641, Berlin mint. Rare, hair re-engraved, very fine to extremely fine.)"</blockquote> In 1641, Friedrich Wilhelm was only Elector of Brandenburg; his son Friedrich III was not granted the title of King of Prussia until 1701. Most Brandenburger thalers of the seventeenth century are rare and expensive; this one is no exception. Other thalers for 1641 include Dav-6168/KM 188, Dav-6169/KM 189 and Dav-6172/KM 191.
