This specimen was lot 971 in Jean Elsen sale 164 (Brussels, March 2026), where it sold for €160 (about US$223 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''BRABANT, Duché, Philippe IV (1621-1665), AR demi-ducaton, 1654, Bruxelles. Deuxième type. D/ B. dr. et cuir. à d. R/ Écu couronné, soutenu par deux lions. En dessous, le bijou de la Toison d'or. Beau à Très Beau.'' ([[Netherlands, Spanish|duchy of Brabant]], Philip IV, 1621-65, half ducaton of 1654, Brussels mint, second type. Obverse: draped and armored bust right; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions, the jewels of the Golden Fleece below. Fine - Very Fine.)"</blockquote> The half ducaton shown here was struck at the Antwerp (hand mintmark) and Brussels (angel face mintmark, shown here) mints 1637-66. The SCWC prices the Brussels issues about double the Antwerp issue. The other provinces issued this type, including Artois, Flanders, Tournai and Luxembourg.
