This specimen was lot 71217 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $600. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Bolivia|BOLIVIA]]. Cob 4 Reales, 1740-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Pedro Geronimo Manrique de Guzman (M). Philip V. PCGS EF-45. A pleasingly toned and abundantly detailed cob. A bold date is presented on both sides, along with a clear mintmark and denomination. This charming piece offers sharp central detail and honest surfaces despite a ragged flan. From the Pat Johnson Collection." This type was struck for Philip V through his entire reign. Assayer "M" stamped coins 1737-40 along with assayer "P" for 1740-43. The silver cobs were debased from .931 fine to .917 fine in 1728. The two assayers are priced the same for 1740.
