This specimen was lot 40593 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Belgium|BELGIUM]]. 10 Centimes, 1863. Brussels Mint. Leopold I. NGC MS-66." This type of 1861-64 superseded the [[Belgium 1855 10 centimes|copper ten centimes]] that had been struck since independence in the 1830's. Copper-nickel as a coinage alloy matured and became very popular in the 1860's and drove out the last of the billon coinage.
