This specimen was lot 4063 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,513 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''BAYERN, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Ludwig II., 1864-1886. Gulden 1868. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Stempelglanz. Aus der Sammlung Jürgen und Erika Schmidt, Bovenden.'' ([[German States, Bavaria|kingdom of Bavaria]], Louis II, 1864-86, gulden of 1868. Very rare in this quality, choice example, uncirculated.)"</blockquote> This type was struck 1866-71 for Ludwig II, he of the famous fairyland castles. It was the last gulden before unification.
