This specimen was lot 3357 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 512 CHF (about US$772 including buyers' fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''RDR / ÖSTERREICH Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 2 Gulden 1871 A, Wien. Vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina.'' (empire of [[Austria]], Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, double florin of 1871, Vienna mint. Extremely Fine, Attractively toned.)"</blockquote> When Bismarck kicked Austria out of Germany after the war of 1866, German and Austrian coins began to diverge. The thaler was abandoned in 1872 for the florin, which in turn was superseded by the corona in 1892. This type of double florin was struck 1867-72. This date is somewhat scarce, especially compared to [[Austria 1879 2 florins Dav-27|Dav-27]] of 1872-92.
