This specimen was lot 688 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "[[India, Assam|ASSAM]]: Shiva Simha, 1714-1744, AR rupee, SE1646, citing Queen Phulesvari, bird running toward the right below on reverse, boldly struck, very light peripheral tone, one-year type, VF, ex SARC Auction 23, Lot 1697, ex Paul Stevens Collection." Assam (Ahom Kingdom) began striking coins based on the rupee system in the 1600's. The design elements were borrowed from nearby Cooch Behar, but the octagonal shape was an invention of the Assamese. The Ahom script was used until the reign of Gadadhara Simha, after which Sanskrit was used for most issues. Saka Era (SE) dates are 78 years earlier than Common Era dates in Western countries. The regular issue rupee of SE 1646 ([[Assam SE 1646 rupee KM-61|KM 61]]) is common.
