The catalog description[1] noted, "[[German States, Aachen|AACHEN]]: Free City, AR 16 marck, 1752, well struck, two-year type, VF, ex Almer H. Orr III Collection." This type was struck 1752 and 1756. The reverse legend, "LOCUS·CORONATIONIS·CÆSAREÆ", translates as, "Location of the imperial coronation." While this was true for the Carolingians, by the early modern period, the emperors were crowned at Frankfurt. One thaler was theoretically thirty two marks but this coin is much too light to be a half thaler.
