This specimen was lot 24482 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "Elizabeth II Proof gold 100 Pounds 1990, PF69 Ultra Cameo NGC, 90th birthday of the Queen Mother." The Falkland Islands, off the coast of [[Argentina]] in the south Atlantic Ocean, last made the news in 1982, when Argentina attempted to conquer the islands but were ousted by Her Majesty's Armed Forces. The islands remain a British dependency.
