This specimen was lot 2436 in Ponterio sale (New York, January 2011), where it sold for €1,888. The catalog description[1] noted, "COSTA RICA. Banco Nacional De Costa Rica. 50 Colones, 1.12.1942. P-207b. A rare note in Uncirculated grades and this piece is just that. Pack fresh with deeply embossed paper, a vibrant impression and lovely technical quality. Centering alone prevents a Gem assessment."
